Cookie Policy

1. What we use cookies for

We use a small set of first-party cookies to keep you signed in, to protect the sign-in flow, and — only after you accept — to measure marketing and conversion events with Google Analytics and to record session replays and heatmaps on public marketing pages with Microsoft Clarity. A consent banner appears until you Accept or Decline. Your choice is stored in a first-party cookie shared across www.recbaba.com and app.recbaba.com so you are not asked again mid-funnel.

• Session cookies: httpOnly cookies that keep you signed in after Google or email and password sign-in. They expire when you sign out or when the session reaches its expiry time. This is strictly necessary.
• Sign-in state cookie: a short-lived cookie used only during the Google sign-in flow to prevent CSRF attacks. It is deleted immediately after sign-in completes. This is strictly necessary.
• Consent cookie: stores whether you accepted or declined analytics (rb_consent_v1). It is first-party, not used to track you, and lasts about one year.
• Google Analytics cookies: set by Google only after you Accept. They identify a browser for measurement (for example _ga). They are not set if you Decline.
• Microsoft Clarity cookies: first-party cookies (for example _clck and _clsk) set only after you Accept, and only on public marketing pages. They are not set on the app, dashboard, editor, recordings library, settings, checkout, or shared-recording pages, and they are not set if you Decline.

2. Local browser storage

RecBaba also uses your browser’s local storage to keep recordings on your computer before you choose to upload. This is not a cookie — it never leaves your device and is not sent to our servers as part of recording or editing.

3. Google Analytics (consent-gated)

When analytics is enabled and you have accepted cookies, we use Google Analytics 4 to measure a small set of business events: marketing page views, new account creation (sign_up), choosing a paid plan (select_plan), starting checkout (begin_checkout), and a completed purchase. We do this so we can understand which public pages people find and whether sign-up and paid plans work. Google may also use consented signals for conversion measurement and ads personalization.

Until you Accept, Google tags run in Consent Mode with storage denied: they do not set analytics cookies. If you Decline, we keep that setting and do not upgrade to full measurement.

Recordings, exported file names, video or audio content, and detailed editor activity are never sent to Google Analytics or any other analytics provider. The editor, recordings library, and dashboard do not send automatic page views.

4. Microsoft Clarity (consent-gated, marketing pages)

When Clarity is enabled and you have accepted cookies, we load Microsoft Clarity on public marketing pages (including the start-recording page) to see session replays and heatmaps of how those pages are used. Clarity does not load on the signed-in app: dashboard, editor, recordings library, settings, checkout, or on public share links. Recordings, exported file names, video or audio content, and detailed editor activity are never sent to Clarity.

If you Decline, or have not yet chosen, the Clarity script is not downloaded. If you Accept and later Decline in Cookie Settings, or you leave the marketing pages for a share link or the sign-in form, we tell Clarity to stop analytics storage for that browser.

5. What we do not use

• Social media embed trackers
• Fingerprinting for advertising
• Analytics of recording contents, captions, or in-editor actions
• Automatic file-download tracking (so exported recording titles are never logged)

6. Managing your choice

Use Cookie Settings in the site footer, or Settings → Privacy & Data in the app, to Accept or Decline again. You can also clear cookies through your browser settings. Clearing session cookies will sign you out. Clearing local storage will remove recordings stored only on this device that have not been uploaded.
